Vogon Poetry Reading
This meetup is our opportunity to cover various software engineering concepts, highlight projects we’re working on, introduce you to some of the companies we’ve partnered with, and hopefully foster discussions around what’s new and exciting in the software development world. Basically, it’s us getting nerdy about what we do best: software engineering.

Don’t let the name scare you off. There will be no actual Vogons reciting verse, but Chad Michel has threatened to share his latest creations.

We’ll meet in the Barnyard (basement level), and provide coffee and donuts.

1 Million Cups LNK-Windstream presents: Tech Talent in the Silicon Prairie

As the capital of the Silicon Prairie, Lincoln has cultivated a diverse and innovative startup scene that is in desperate need of tech talent in order to grow. Studies show that 40% of global employers are reporting a talent shortage, a global issue that is hitting home in Lincoln and the surrounding areas as skilled workers flee to larger tech communities. More specifically, “brain drain” is a problem that affects the future of Midwestern communities; many are facing aging populations and fewer young people to fill the gap because they’ve fled Midwestern communities in search of better opportunities. Join us to hear what the city is doing to combat the tech talent drought as we explore ways to grow Lincoln’s talent pool. Some of the questions the panel will address:

  • What is the current state of talent in Lincoln? How does growing our talent network impact the city economically?
  • What skills are most in demand? How does education available today provide students with the skills needed to be effective in today’s workforce?
  • How can companies attract talent to the area or incentive them to stay? What success have companies had already in doing this?

From data-backed decisions to insights-driven business decisions
From data-backed decisions to insight-driven business decisions.

Customers have more power than ever and are shaping companies strategies. In this presentation, we will go over Thick Data case studies to go from data-backed decisions to insight-driven business decisions to create the best customer experience that can positively impact your company’s bottom line.
